Teaming Up in California’s Central Valley

As communities work to stay economically competitive, one of the crucial factors of our time is sustainability. One particularly problematic area for sustainability teams is that of fleet management. Traditionally powered fleets are large producers of Co2 and other harmful emissions. In California one of the areas most impacted by mobile source emissions is the Central Valley.

Unfortunately, the solutions to mitigate these emissions are new, complex and often very expensive. This leaves fleets asking themselves: Are we on track to implement new technology as it becomes available? How we will pay for these expensive technologies? Are we really going to be able to make these technologies and strategies work?

In a move that is aimed at helping the San Joaquin Valley fleet community answer these questions, carbonBLU has teamed up with the San Joaquin Valley Clean Transportation Center to offer fleets an opportunity to answer these questions by receiving a free “BLUprint Brief.”

The new Center’s goal is to accelerate the use of clean vehicles and fuels to help the region more quickly meet its air quality targets. The Center will provide technical assistance, project development expertise, and support with acquiring funding for San Joaquin Valley vehicle fleet owners, local governments, businesses, and residents. Its work will expand the use of zero-emission vehicles, clean trucks, and high-efficiency non-road equipment.

carbonBLU Fleet Solutions

The “BLUprint Brief” is a high-level view of a fleet’s sustainability. It provides answers to the aforementioned questions including identifying the best possible alternative fuel and advanced vehicle deployment projects for each fleets specific situation. The Brief generates a simple inventory of the fleet-generated CO emissions and uses assumptions where detailed data is not available.

The “BLUprint Brief” outlines three scenarios for replacing vehicles, provides tools to help create a Sustainable Fleet Plan, gives consolidated data for NAFA’s Sustainable Fleet Accreditation application, and general information on alternative fuels and advanced technologies that can help reduce petroleum use.

To be eligible for this program fleets must reside within Kern, Tulare, Kings, Fresno, Madera, Merced, Stanislaus or San Joaquin counties. By taking advantage of this opportunity, organizations will have the chance to have their fleets assessed for sustainability and see vehicle replacement scenarios that will help them plan for the future.
